AKP Phnom Penh, October 16, 2026 —
A Cambodian rural community leader has been honoured among the inaugural class of the Food and Agriculture Organisation's (FAO) "100 Women Heroes" at the global level, bringing immense national pride to the Kingdom.
Ms. Set Hach, a rural agricultural community leader from Siem Reap province, received the prestigious award directly from FAO Director-General QU Dongyu during the World Food Forum 2026, held at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy, on Oct. 15.
Recognised as a awardee in the inaugural "100 Women Heroes" initiative in agrifood systems for rural development, Ms. Set Hach was commended for her leadership, resilience, and dedicated service toward empowering hundreds of farming families, particularly women in rural communities.
As President of the "Satrey Phouk Phol Meanchey" Agricultural Cooperative, she has actively promoted women’s leadership in agriculture, expanded local economic opportunities, and strengthened community resilience under the PEARL Project, which is financially supported by the Green Climate Fund.
This recognition marks not only a celebration of her personal achievements, but also a vital acknowledgment of the indispensable contributions made by Cambodian rural women to the development and sustainability of the nation's agrifood systems.
