AKP Phnom Penh, October 1, 2026 --
National Road No. 10, a 198.518-kilometre strategic road linking Battambang, Pursat and Koh Kong provinces, was officially inaugurated for public use on Thursday, marking another major addition to Cambodia’s transport infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony was held in Veal Veng district, Pursat province, under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.
Addressing the ceremony, the Premier said the new road would bring greater benefits to local people and boost economic activities among Battambang, Pursat and Koh Kong provinces, as well as other parts of Cambodia.
“As now, the people in Pursat, if they want to visit the seaside, no need to travel to Phnom Penh. They can use this national road,” he underlined.
The road stretches from National Road No. 57-7 at Km 35+900 in Kanchang village, Soung commune, Samlot district, Battambang province, through Veal Veng district of Pursat province, to National Road No. 48 at Km 1+700 in Sangkat Smach Meanchey, Khemarak Phoumin city, Koh Kong province.
The project also includes the construction of 20 new bridges and the expansion of 12 existing bridges, with a combined length of 2,325 metres.
Among them is the Techo Peace Bridge of Russey Chrum, officially named by the Royal Government. The bridge is 537 metres long and 10 metres wide, expanding to 15 metres at its centre. It consists of 12 spans and reaches a height of 90 metres from the streambed to the underside of the bridge at its central section. A viewing and photo stop has also been provided at the centre of the bridge.
H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, said construction of the road began in March 2020 and was completed in May 2025 after 66 months. The project cost approximately US$252 million and was financed through a concessional loan from the Chinese Government and counterpart funding from the Royal Government of Cambodia.
National Road No. 10 is expected to strengthen transport connectivity, facilitate the movement of agricultural and industrial products, reduce travel distances, and promote tourism along the scenic route connecting the three provinces, H.E. Minister said.
