Cambodia and New Zealand have discussed opportunities to further expand bilateral trade and cooperation through the effective implementation of free trade agreements, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA).

The discussions took place on Monday during a meeting between Minister of Commerce H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul and New Zealand’s newly appointed Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Mrs. Raylene Siale Tagaloa Liufalani, at the Ministry of Commerce in Phnom Penh.

H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimu welcomed and congratulated H.E. Mrs. Raylene Siale Tagaloa Liufalani on her appointment, while expressing appreciation for New Zealand’s support for human resource development through scholarship programmes.

She also highlighted New Zealand’s technical assistance in strengthening the implementation of free trade agreements, including RCEP and AANZFTA.

The two sides recalled the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and New Zealand, particularly in trade, and noted the growth in bilateral trade between the two countries.

They discussed opportunities to further promote trade and deepen bilateral cooperation through the full and effective implementation of the various free trade agreements to which both countries are parties.

During the meeting, the New Zealand side also expressed its support for Cambodia’s application to accede to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
