AKP Phnom Penh, July 12, 2025 --
Beijing hosted the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Civilisations Dialogue on July 10-11, attracting over 600 participants from approximately 140 countries and regions worldwide.
In today's world, the future and destiny of all countries are closely interwoven. In such circumstances, inclusiveness, coexistence, and exchanges and mutual learning among civilisations play an irreplaceable role in advancing humanity's modernisation process and flourishing the garden of world civilisations.
On March 15, 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilisation Initiative (GCI) at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting. The initiative advocates the respect for the diversity of civilisations, the common values of humanity, the importance of inheritance and innovation of civilisations, and robust international people-to-people exchanges and cooperation.
The GCI is another important intellectual public goods that China provides for the international community in the new era. The initiative has responded to the international community's aspirations for enhanced dialogue and exchanges among civilisations and gathered forces that dispel estrangement and boost people-to-people ties.
Over the past two years and more, China has consistently worked hand in hand with the international community to defend equality among civilisations by upholding the principle of peaceful coexistence among diverse cultures; to practice cultural exchanges in exploring ways to broaden the path toward global modernisation; to promote civilisational progress through advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
The light of civilisations is illuminating the journey to development and prosperity, the might of civiliastions is enhancing mankind's endeauvor of modernisation, and the way of civilisations is boosting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. China's proposals and solutions, deeply rooted in the fertile soil of Chinese civilisation, have infused strong impetus into the progress of human society.
"At present, it is particularly important for different civilisations to understand and communicate with each other. Joint action is the key," said Ivo Josipović, the former President of Croatia. Ivo added that the China-proposed GCI is crucial for countries in the world to promote mutual understanding and move into the future hand in hand.
The world has been undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. Standing on the right side of history and of human progress, China will work together with other countries to jointly create a brighter future for humanity, passing on the spirit of peace from generation to generation and encouraging the luster of civilisations to shine brighter.
