Cambodian National Assembly Ready to Strengthen Cooperation with Singapore Embassy
AKP Phnom Penh, June 05, 2026 -- Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, affirmed the legislature’s readiness to provide full support and work closely with the Embassy of Singapore in Cambodia to further strengthen friendship and practical cooperation between the two countries for the mutual benefit of both peoples.
The remarks were made during a courtesy call and working meeting with H.E. Pang Chee Wee, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia, at the National Assembly Palace on June 5.
Samdech warmly welcomed the ambassador and expressed confidence that his diplomatic mission would help deepen and expand bilateral cooperation and elevate relations to a new level across both legislative and executive institutions.
She noted that Cambodia and Singapore, as small states in Southeast Asia, share common values in upholding international law, protecting peace, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and promoting multilateralism, while stressing the importance of maintaining a rules-based international order amid global challenges.
For his part, Ambassador Pang Chee Wee thanked Samdech for the warm reception and highlighted the strong and growing relationship between the two countries under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Singapore Prime Minister H.E. Lawrence Wong.
The Ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and highlighted Singapore’s support for education, skills development, and capacity building in Cambodia, including technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes for Cambodians seeking employment opportunities in Singapore.
He also noted further potential for cooperation in sectors including tourism – particularly eco-tourism – and agriculture, adding that Cambodian rice continues to enjoy strong popularity among Singaporean consumers.
Samdech Khuon Sudary expressed support for the ambassador’s initiatives and encouraged increased Singaporean investment in education, healthcare, and small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as broader participation in Cambodia’s industrial supply chains.
Both sides agreed to continue enhancing cooperation for the benefit of both countries and peoples, while Samdech also proposed Singapore’s support for Cambodia’s parliamentary digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) capacity building as the National Assembly advances toward becoming a digital parliament.
