DPM Sun Chanthol Receives Visiting JICA Delegation
AKP Phnom Penh, May 01, 2026 -- H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, received here on April 30 a courtesy call and held a working meeting with a delegation led by Ms. MIYAZAKI Katsura, Executive Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), on the occasion of her official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
In the meeting, H.E. Sun Chanthol highly valued the excellent cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of Japan through JICA, citing that this partnership has significantly contributed to the rehabilitation and socio-economic development of Cambodia across all sectors.
Additionally, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the progress of the Sihanoukville Deep Sea Port expansion project, financed by JICA, which is poised to become a critical economic gateway enhancing Cambodia's regional competitiveness.
For her part, Ms. MIYAZAKI Katsura praised Cambodia's rapid development. She reaffirmed JICA's commitment to further strengthening this robust partnership and continuing its support for various development initiatives.
She placed special emphasis on enhancing the logistics system, developing infrastructure, and promoting investment.
Also, she highlighted the goal of improving service delivery to investors by empowering the Business Co-creation Team to effectively respond to Cambodia's practical needs.
Both parties committed to continuing their close collaboration to achieve new milestones for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both nations.
