New Myanmar Military Attaché Vows Stronger Ties with Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, March 25, 2026 —
Myanmar’s new military attaché to Cambodia has affirmed his commitment to further advancing relations and cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces, according to a Cambodian military statement released on Wednesday.
The commitment was made during a courtesy call by Myanmar’s Defence Attaché, Brigadier General Zaw Win, on H.E. General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), at the RCAF headquarters in Phnom Penh.
During the meeting, H.E. General Vong Pisen welcomed Brigadier General Zaw Win’s appointment and praised the longstanding relations between the two nations. He called for continued efforts to strengthen cooperation across several areas, including exchange visits at all levels, human resource development, intelligence sharing to combat terrorism and transnational crime, and other activities aimed at mutual benefit for the peoples and militaries of both countries.
In response, Brigadier General Zaw Win expressed deep gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia and the RCAF for providing scholarships to Myanmar military personnel to study at Cambodia’s National Defence University.
The attaché also highlighted the long history of diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries, reiterating his dedication to working towards more effective and close-knit cooperation during his tenure.
Before concluding the meeting, H.E. General Vong Pisen conveyed his best wishes to Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of Myanmar’s State Administration Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces. He also extended his well-wishes to the newly appointed attaché for good health and success in his duties.
